Nez #14: Music and Perfume

Published twice a year, Nez explores the world around us via our sense of smell. It provides an insight into the vital role that olfactory sensations play in our lives. This novel approach encompasses art, literature, science, history, food, and perfume. While a large proportion of each issue is obviously given over to fragrance and perfumery, the relationship between scent and taste is inescapably part of the magazine as well.

This issue is dedicated to Music and Perfume. That particular pairing may not seem to offer a great deal of food content, but pear lovers will be pleased to find that fruit saluted here (and perhaps to learn that is an element of several recent celebrated perfumes). A tour of an open air market teaches us to appreciate the compounds that give fresh fruits, ripening cheeses, recently-caught fish and bien cuit baked goods their olfactory character.
