Beautifully designed, Cherry Bombe appears twice a year to celebrate women and food. It’s a trend spotter, a nostalgia trip, an occasional provocateur, and a bit of frivolity, all bound together with strong writing. Each issue has a theme that contributors are addressing from a range of viewpoints. For this issue, the theme is the only slightly tongue-in-cheek “California girls.” You’ll find a feature on cover woman Chrissy Teigen, but there’s also a nice tribute to the late Judy Rodgers of Zuni Café, a smart, sharp profile of Liz Pruiett of Tartine Bakery, and another of Jessica Koslow of Sqirl in Los Angeles. And oh yes, Nancy Silverton, Heidi Swanson, Tanya Holland, Betty Fussell, and the magically named Celestine Maddy are all here too.
