Drift is a smart, handsome, edgy magazine dedicated to coffee culture. Each semi-annual issue focuses on a different city, exploring the many ways coffee is enjoyed in each. Journey with them here to Stockholm, a place where long winter nights and long summer days both call for coffee. But as this issue points out, serious coffee appreciation is a young phenomenon in Stockholm, though one growing by leaps and bounds. Many of the city’s leading restaurants have recently-developed specialty coffee programs using local roasters. Coffee is brewed in countless styles. And there’s also a bounty of foods to go along, especially the pastries consumed during the coffee break called fika. Also in this issue: a feature on cardamom; profiles of leading roasters, many of whom, in contrast to most cities, are women; and a look at the Swedish coffee design aesthetic.
