Conigliaro’s 69 Colebrooke Row is one of London’s most ambitious bars, known for imaginative cocktails, many based on ambitious experiments with modernist techniques. His Bloody Mary, for example, is rendered extremely smooth because he redistills the vodka with horseradish rather than simply including the grated root. For those who seek to create as many of their own mixers, cordials, and liqueurs as possible, The Cocktail Lab is a highly useful and fascinating guide, full of remarkable ideas. They don’t all require the ability to redistill your own vodka, but much work is often necessary.
