After decades spent helping define American fine dining through New York City restaurants, chef Charlie Palmer found a second home in Sonoma County. In Wineland, he turns his attention away from restaurant kitchens and toward the farmers, vintners, bakers, ranchers, and artisans whose work has shaped the region’s identity. 

Structured around twenty profiles, the book introduces readers to a diverse group of makers, from winemakers and oyster farmers to cheesemakers and restaurateurs. Among them are Kyle and Katina Connaughton of SingleThread, vintner Amelia Ceja, baker Melissa Yanc, and Bellwether Farms’ Liam Callahan, each offering a different perspective on the relationship between land, craft, and community. 

Interwoven with recipes and extensive photography, this serves as both a celebration of Sonoma County and a reflection on the values that draw people there: stewardship, seasonality, collaboration, and a deep connection to place. More than a wine-country guide, Wineland is a portrait of a region told through the individuals who continue to shape it.
