Lorch, who has an affinity for less-traveled wine regions–her other book is wines of the French Alps–recognizes that the Jura’s profile has become more prominent in the last decade, largely because its winemakers have dedicated themselves improving their product. While French wine sales in general slump, the Jura cannot meet demand.
This 152-page book addresses the vintages of the last ten years, including the effects of climate change as well as speculation in prices of Jura wines. Lorch highlights particular producers, including a few small, new houses. And she also urges her readers to visit the Jura itself, providing updated insight on where to stay and eat.
Although available separately from the original Jura Wine, this book is best used in conjunction with it to provide the most in-depth appreciation of the region and its character.
