Demonstrating the rich breadth of the rural queer lifestyle and its intersection with food, this zine offers meditations, recipes, photography, poetry, and artwork from people who work as shepherds, weavers, designers, farmers, printmakers, bakers, poets, chefs, and in many other roles.
While the rhubarb clafoutis recipe on page 102 (makes two!) was enough to arrest our attention, the contributions are not always so practical. Some ask us to confront the practicalities of gathering and preparing fibers for weaving or to appreciate the sensory qualities of raw oysters and their vulvic appearance.
Some contributors are nonconforming not only in gender but also in their social and economic strategies. But in the various ways they invite us to share, at least for a few pages, their perspective is inclusive and refreshing.
Proceeds from the sale of Queer Earth Food 3 support a queer/trans/black-owned farm in New Mexico called Moonpence, which provides free medicinal herbs to local communities.
Plastic ring binding. Color photographs and artwork throughout.
